I wonder if who created this has been actually been paying attention.

EVERYWHERE is trying to pin the blame on something, movies, videogames, blah blah, but everyone all agrees. He was a very sick, mentally disturbed man, and he did it. I haven’t heard or read a single thing describing him as a “Top student” and “Such a nice young boy”

Grow the fuck up and stop blaming everything on white privilege. There is no white privilege in this case.

You didn’t even mention that there have, indeed, been instances of mass killers who were not white. They were also described as deranged and just generally really fucked up.

And even when they interviewed his mother, she said that they definitely had the right person. So it’s not like this guy wasn’t a lunatic already, if his mother heard the news and basically told them, “Yep, that sounds about right.”

Get over yourselves. This is about a horrible atrocity, not your race crusade.

In spite of those good points, I think this has some merit. If he were black, there wouldn’t be any discussion about blaming violent movies or video games. The fact that people are discussing what caused his actions at all sets him apart from every black person accused of murder. If a person of color kills anyone, it’s obviously because they’re just a murderous thug, but if a white guy kills someone, we need to figure out what external influence caused his behavior.

I don’t think the Aurora tragedy specifically is worth bringing race into, but that doesn’t mean the issue isn’t worth thinking about.
